Black Pepper Stew - Ingredients:

whole red chili 1
fenugreek 1/2 tsp.
oil 1 tsp.
shredded coconut 1/2 cup  
tamarind paste 1 Tbsp.
whole black pepper 2 tsp.
toor dhal 1/2 tsp.
toor dhal 1 tsp.
curry leaves 1 tsp.
oil 2 Tbsp.
turmeric , 1/2 tsp.
asafetida 1/2 tsp.
mustard seeds 1 tsp.
urad dhal 1 tsp.
salt to taste
dried vegetables of any kind 3 Tbsp.
cooked toor dhal 1/2 cup  
 
Black Pepper Stew - Directions:
  1. Saute first 4 ingredients masala ingredients) in a teaspoon of oil until they become

  2. golden brown and grind them in a blender with 1/2 cup shredded coconut, adding

  3. enough water to make it into a fine paste.

  4. Mix tamarind paste with 1 cup of hot water and make a juice. In a saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil.

  5. Add asafoetida, mustard seeds, urad dhal, toor dhal, curry leaves, turmeric and dried vegetables in the oil and saute until golden brown. Then add the tamarind juice. When the mixture boils, add the masala paste, 1/2 cup of cooked toor dhal and salt. When the mixture comes to full boil, remove from heat and serve it hot with rice.
