ghee or clarified butter or oil 3-4 tbs.
cumin seeds 1 tsp.
A large pinch of hing (Asafoetida)
minced ginger & garlic 1 tbsp
medium onion (thinly chopped ,optional) 1
medium tomatoes, finely chopped 2-3
Garam Masala 1/2 tsp.
fresh cream 1/2 cup
chopped coriander leaves (optional) 2 tbs.
Salt to taste
water (to cook dal) 5-6 cups
