Kadala(Channa) curry - Ingredients:

Kadala/Horse gram/channa dal soaked overnight  1 cup
Refined oil 3 tbsp
Onions, sliced long 1/2 cup
Turmeric(haldi) powder 1/2 tbsp
Ginger (adrak )chopped.
Garlic(lasan)cloves chopped 12
Green chilies 4
Cloves(laung) 8
Green cardomom (choti elachi) 4
Cinnamon(dalchini) sticks,1'' long 4
Coconut thinly sliced to small pieces 1/4 cup
Vinegar 11/2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Curry leaves  a few
Coconut milk thick extracted from 1 cup of  grated coconut
1/2 cup
Kadala(Channa) curry - Directions:
  1. Boil the horse gram in enough water so that only 1/2 cup water remains after horse gram turns soft.

  2. Heat the oil in pan; Saute the onions,turmeric powder,ginger,garlic,green chilies and cloves.When the oil separates, pour one cup of water and bring to boil.

  3. Add the cooked gram with the water,coconut,vinegar,salt and curry leaves.Bring to boil.

  4. Add the coconut milk extract and mix well.Remove from heat when the gravy thickens.
