Meen Tilappichathu (Boiled Fish) - This is a simple and easy to make dish made by boiling fish and masala in water. Fish like Pearl Spot (Karimeen), Mullet (Kanambu), Mackarel (Aila) or small fishes like kozhuva, mullan etc. are best suited for this preparation.

Meen Tilappichathu (Boiled Fish) - Ingredients:

Fish 1/2kg 
Small Onions   20 
Ginger 1 piece 
Green Chillies   3-4 
Garlic  2 flakes 
Curry leaves  2 sprigs 
Red Chilly Powder 2tbsp 
Tumeric Powder  1/2 tsp 
Oil  2 tsp 
Salt to taste 
Water  2 cups 
Vinegar 1 tsp 


Meen Tilappichathu (Boiled Fish) - Directions:
  1. Crush small onions, ginger and garlic. Heat oil in a mud pot and saute the crushed ingredients with green chillies.

  2. Add Turmeric,Red chilly powder and saute well.

  3. Pour water and bring to a boil. Add the cleaned fish, curry leaves and salt to taste.

  4. Boil well on medium heat till done.

  5. Add vinegar when the fish is almost done.
