Thenkuzhal - Ingredients:

Gram flour 1/4 kg
Rice flour 1/4 kg
Chili poder 6 tbsp
Asafoetida a pinch
sesame seed 1 tsp
Butter 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
Thenkuzhal - Directions:
  1. Mix the flour with asafoetida., chili powder, butter and salt to taste.

  2. Add sesame seeds and mix.

  3. Make soft dough by adding water.

  4. Heat oil in a frying pan.

  5. When oil is hot take a small ball of dough and put it through a thenkuzhal mould which is held over frying pan and press the lever of mould.

  6. Thenkuzhal will drop into oil.

  7. When they are crisp and golden brown remove from oil and drain.

  8. Store in air tight jars and serve when required.
