Thirunelveli Halwa(Wheat Halwa) - Ingredients:

Whole wheat  250 gms 
Sugar  1 kg 
Ghee   350 gms 
Boiling water 6 cups 
Cashew    cup 
Cardamom powder   1 tsp 
Saffron colour   a pinch
Thirunelveli Halwa(Wheat Halwa) - Directions:
  1. Wash & soak whole wheat or rawa in plenty of water for 5-6 hrs.

  2. Drain & grind with 1 cup of water in a mixi.

  3. Squeeze to get the milk.

  4. Repeat this procedure 3-4 times more with a fresh cup of water every time & squeeze the milk thoroughly.

  5. Allow the liquid to settle, undisturbed for 6-8 hrs.

  6. Then pour out the clear liquid as far as possible, retaining only the thick milk.

  7. Make a syrup of the sugar with 2 cups of water.

  8. Add 2 tbsp milk, boil .

  9. When one-string syrup is reached, add the thick milk, stirring well.

  10. Add saffron colour mixed in 1 tsp of water to get the required shade of colour.

  11. Keep stirring the mixture on a low fire.

  12. Keep water boilng ready .

  13. When the mixture starts thickening, add 1 cup of boiling water & cook.

  14. Add 2 tbsp of ghee.

  15. The mixture will again start thickening .Repeat the above procedure in the same order till you have used up all the 6 cups of boiling water.

  16. The halwa gets thoroughly cooked to a very soft texture.

  17. Now it will become a mass .Add cardamom powder & cashewnuts.

  18. Stir continuously so that ghee starts gradually oozing out.

  19. Now empty on a greased plate.

  20. Serve hot or cool & cut into pieces.

can you let me know the wheat, ghee and sugar too in cup measurement ? It is helpful if everything is in the same measuring standard...
